If you’ve heard about Crowd Search and wondered about how it might help your online presence, you’re not alone. A effective method of using Crowd Search is quoted in the article below by Semantic Mastery, a premier Search Engine Optimization agency, gives some timely advice.
One caveat on using this method is that it should be treated as a supplemental method, over and above building out semantic networks, as recommended by the authors, e.g., use as a last resort to achieve the more difficult ranking results.

Here is a method we have been testing and it turns out that this works great for videos and for local sites.
You will need access to a referral traffic tool — or as I like to call it “CT (Click-Thru) Spam” — like Crowd Search.
Here is how it works
So what you do is create a post on a web 2 or social profile (Twitter works great for this right now) and use a unique hashtag in the post and a link to your money site.
Then get the post indexed and setup the CS campaign to search for hashtag (or another unique phrase from within the post).
Next you turn “Random Browsing” off inside of CS and tell the search to click the link to your money site.
This creates referral traffic and helps the site to be given more authority.
Of course you should have Analytics installed so Google sees the referral source. Alternatively (if you don’t use Analytics), you can use goo.gl short links to shorten your money site link and use the short link in the web 2 post and tell CS to click the short link. This will still inject Analytics (click analytics) into the link so that Google knows it is referral traffic.
Anyway, I have tested this and it works well for local. Just don’t be stupid and send a ton of traffic thru those links. Set it to like 30 – 45 per month or whatever is appropriate for your niche and local search volumes.
And as mentioned above, Twitter works well for this since there is a whole “Bromance” thing going on between Google and Twitter right now.
We originally started using this method for videos, but have also been using for local sites and having good results with it.
